Marine Construction

Marine Construction

Let us install a bulkhead, replace you boat dock boards and/or other marine construction needs.

We don't claim to be the best; nor, do we say negative things about other contractors; however, the fact is we started out building docks, piers, boat houses, and decks, on the upper Gulf Coast in 1983 as young adults and still remain as Galveston Counties local (non-transplanted from another city or even state) beach community builder still to this day 40 years later.

Texas Gulf Coast Marine Construction

We offer the construction of simple fishing piers to complete boat houses with watercraft ramps, and lifts for both boats and personal watercraft. Please read below for a more in-depth description of the types of marine construction that we do.

Boat Houses

Having a house on Galveston Bay or having a slip at your home is fantastic. Even more fantastic is having a full-blown boathouse to keep your boat and accessories secure. Even beyond securing your property, a boathouse can serve as an area for entertainment and even a spare bedroom if designed so. Ask us about building an outdoor kitchen, storage, spare room, entertainment area, and a rooftop deck. Your new boathouse can be anything you like, within the building codes that is.

Boathouse Foundations

We specialize in residential marine construction; therefore, most of our projects are built on piles. These pilings can be either wood or metal. New World Builders will work with you in the design, planning, permitting, construction, and management of all phases of building your new boathouse.

Boathouse Quarters and Decking

Most of our projects are pretty basic in nature. If you desire a more comprehensive design to be constructed we are well suited for that as well. It is not a stretch for us to use the remodeling skills that have been acquired over the last 40 years to implement into your boathouse project or other outbuildings on your property.

Boathouse Roofing Systems

The roofing system on a boathouse in general is the same as a small home as a rule. We typically frame the roof in the same manner but may opt to use other roof coverings. We often use a metal roof because the dollar amount is small and the value is high. The dollar amount is small because the size of most boat houses is not large. Sometimes based on the design we may opt to use a rubber membrane roof, tile roof, or a shingled roof, just depending on the specifications. A popular request is that we design and build a deck-over-roof boathouse. You can imagine the appeal that having a deck of the water could be a great place to BBQ and entertain your friends and family.

Docks

Not everyone has the need for a boathouse or covered dock. If you just need a place a boat or jet ski can pull up to and tie off so we can do that as well. Not all projects have to be extravagant or complex. Following the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) methodology setting some piles and building a deck and handrails makes a whole lot of sense and we understand that and will not pressure you to build more than is needed.

All good docks should have some basics such as mooring points for your watercraft, gangways, ramps, or ladders to transverse from craft to dock or from the water to the dock. In addition to the basics, you may also find bumpers/fenders, dock boxes, power pedestals, and lighting.

Fishing Piers

A dock and a fishing pier aren't all that dissimilar. Really with the exception of some specialty items either way is all that differs between the two. Some common elements that we may be asked to build on the dock/pier are cleaning stations, rod holders, water access, trash receptacles, and bench seating. Simply add some lighting, kids, fishing poles, and a lazy summer evening and you now have a Norman Rockwell moment.

Watercraft Ramps or Lifts

We can help you find a boat lift or PWC lift that fits your needs and install it at your boathouse, dock, pier, bulkhead, or seawall.
