Decks
What is the best decking material for the Gulf Coast?
Composite decking such as Trex or TimberTech performs well in coastal environments because it does not rot, splinter, or require annual sealing. Pressure-treated lumber rated for coastal exposure is also a solid, cost-effective choice. Cedar is a good option for customers who prefer natural wood. How long does a deck build take?
Most residential deck projects take one to three weeks from start to finish once permits are in hand. Larger or more complex projects may take longer.
Can you build on elevated coastal homes?

Do I need a permit for deck repair?
Significant structural repairs generally require permits. Minor cosmetic repairs may not. We confirm requirements for your specific project before work begins.
Docks
What permits are required for a dock?
Dock construction typically requires coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Texas General Land Office, and Galveston County. We handle this entire process for our clients.
Fixed dock or floating dock: which is right for me?
A fixed dock sits on pilings at a constant height, which suits locations with minimal tidal fluctuation. A floating dock rises and falls with the water level, which suits significant tide swings. We assess your specific waterfront and recommend the right system.
Can you repair a storm-damaged dock?

Fencing
What fence type holds up best in salt air?
Vinyl and aluminum fencing are the most durable options because they do not rust or rot. Pressure-treated wood with corrosion-resistant hardware is also a strong choice. See fencing.

Pergolas and Outdoor Living
Can a pergola survive a Gulf Coast hurricane?
A properly engineered and anchored pergola can withstand significant wind events. We build to Texas windstorm code, with engineer inspection arranged where TWIA certification is required, and use hurricane ties and corrosion-resistant structural connectors throughout.
Do pergolas require permits?
